Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju Reported Missing; Car Found Abandoned In Karen

The family of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has filed an official missing person report following his mysterious disappearance on the afternoon of Saturday, March 21, 2026. Concerns escalated after his vehicle was discovered abandoned along Miotoni Lane in the Karen area of Nairobi, with no sign of the veteran politician.

A Chilling Lead-Up to the Disappearance

According to family sources, the alarm was first raised after Tuju noticed he was being surveilled. On Friday, March 20, he reportedly observed a white Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series with no license plates tailing his movements.

Following this unsettling encounter, Tuju visited the Karen Police Station on Saturday to formally document the incident. The report was recorded under OB 21/21/03/2026. However, shortly after leaving the station, contact with the former CS was lost. His phone has remained switched off since Saturday afternoon, and he failed to appear for a scheduled interview on Ramogi FM later that evening.

Discovery of the Abandoned Vehicle

The search took a digital turn on Sunday morning, March 22, when Tuju’s son, Mano Tuju, received an urgent call from the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Karen. While attending a church service, Mano was informed that his father’s car had been found deserted on Miotoni Lane.

The family immediately filed a formal missing person report (OB 17/22/03/2026). Tuju’s legal representative, Grado Victor Mabachi, has since confirmed the filing and expressed deep concern over the circumstances surrounding the event.

Allegations of Abduction

The disappearance has already taken on a political dimension. Speaking during a church service on Sunday, Siaya Governor James Orengo claimed that the former Cabinet Secretary had been abducted. While police have yet to officially classify the case as a kidnapping, the presence of an unidentified, plate-less vehicle in the days leading up to the disappearance has intensified public scrutiny.

As of Monday, March 23, 2026, investigative teams remain on the scene where the vehicle was found, scouring for forensic evidence that might point to Tuju’s whereabouts.
