Kenya Power Announces Planned Maintenance Interruptions in Nairobi, Mt Kenya, Coast and Nyanza Regions

Kenya Power has announced a series of planned electricity maintenance works scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026, affecting customers in parts of Nairobi, Mt Kenya, Coast, and South Nyanza regions.

The utility company said the temporary outages are necessary to facilitate network maintenance and system improvements.

Nairobi Region

Part of Westlands

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Areas set to experience power interruptions include sections of Eldama Ravine Road, Ring Road, 2nd, 3rd and 6th Parklands Avenue, General Mathenge Drive, Mpaka Road, Suswa Road, parts of Peponi Road and Mwanzi Road.

Affected customers will include West Wood Hotel and surrounding premises.

Mt Kenya Region

Nyeri County

Tumutumu Hospital Area

Time: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The outage will affect a wide section of Mathira and surrounding areas, including Mathaithi, Gatomboya, Githima, Kiamaina, Unjiru, Kiawanduha, Ichuga Secondary School, Kiamucheru, Tumutumu Hospital, Tumutumu Primary and Secondary Schools, Mathira Technical Institute, Ngandu Girls Secondary School, Safaricom and Airtel booster stations, among other nearby customers.

Ruai Primary and Muhonia Area

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Areas affected include Ruai Primary School, Muhonia, Ruai Mwai, Karimenu and neighbouring customers.

Le Prestine Hotel Area

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Customers around Kirimara Coffee Factory, Kanuna Water Project, Kanuna Village, Muruguru and Le Prestine Hotel will experience the planned interruption.

Tharaka Nithi County

Katwana Market Area

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The maintenance exercise will affect Kithaga Market, Nkarini Market, Samerton Hotel, Kaareni Market, Katwana area, Materi Market, Kathanje Market, Komarock Modern Hospital, St Orsola Materi Hospital and surrounding locations.

Meru County

Nguruki Market and Njerune Market Area

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Areas scheduled for interruption include Mbugine Water Project, Njerune Village, Kireru Market, Kirimene, Mweru Coffee Factory, Gitine Dispensary, Mutuatine, Kaira Secondary School, Gakumukumu Primary School, Kaira Market, Gitine Market, Kirangine Market and adjacent customers.

Coast Region

Kilifi County

Kakanjuni, Ganze and Vitengeni Areas

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Customers in Kakanjuni, Rojo, Dera, Ganze, Vitengeni, Matano Manne, Malanga, Bale, Baolala and neighbouring areas will be affected by the scheduled maintenance works.

South Nyanza Region

Kisii County

Menyinkwa, Masongo and Kerina Areas

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The planned outage will affect Nyamemiso, Masongo, Nyamonema, Ekerubo, Menyinkwa, Oigara, Ekerorano, Misesi, Itabago, Bonyancha, Kerina, Nyansagati, Nyachenge, Mwata, Gakero, Nyabioto, Nyauno, Rianyabaro, Nyangiti, Nyamokenye Secondary School, Nubia and surrounding customers.

Advisory to Customers

Kenya Power has advised affected customers to plan accordingly during the maintenance period. The company noted that electricity supply may be restored earlier than the indicated time once maintenance works are completed.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas are encouraged to treat all power lines as live throughout the maintenance period and to take necessary precautions to protect electrical appliances and equipment.
