Pastor Kanyari Defends Parenting Style, Reveals He Cancelled Child’s Dubai Trip Over Discipline Concerns

Salvation Healing Ministry founder Pastor Victor Kanyari has revealed that he recently cancelled a planned Dubai trip for one of his children, saying the decision was part of his efforts to instil discipline and address concerns within his family.

Speaking during his midweek service on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the preacher also responded to critics who have questioned his approach to parenting and how he handles his children.

Kanyari defended his parenting style, insisting that he would not allow public opinions to dictate how he raises or disciplines his children.

The pastor said some people had accused him of being too strict, but he maintained that he was simply fulfilling his responsibilities as a parent.

“There are some people who are saying, ‘Pastor Kanyari, do not be harsh with your kids.’ Please know that I am an African man. And those are my kids,” he said.

He explained that he believes children should be corrected when they go against the values and lessons they have been taught, arguing that failing to address wrongdoing could create bigger challenges in the future.

“There is no way I can tolerate and play around with a child when they have done something wrong,” Kanyari stated.

The preacher added that children often come to appreciate parental guidance later in life, especially when they face difficult situations and reflect on the lessons they received while growing up.

“So when they also go astray later on, they will remember that I told them the truth,” he said.

Kanyari’s remarks come amid recent public discussions about his family and his relationship with his children, with the pastor continuing to emphasise the importance of discipline and parental responsibility.
