“Death Didn’t Make My Marriage Ugly”- DJ Krowbar Reflects On Faith And Loss
Award-winning gospel deckmaster Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has shared a poignant reflection on his journey through grief following the passing of his wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba. In an emotional post shared on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the father of three opened up about how his Christian foundation is helping him navigate the painful reality of life without his partner.
A New Perspective on Grief
For many, death is seen as the tragic end to a beautiful story, but Krowbar is choosing to view his marriage through a different lens. He emphasized that the loss of his wife does not diminish the beauty of the years they shared.
“There is a reality I have to accept: ‘Death didn’t make my marriage ugly’,” he stated. He explained that his understanding of life and death is deeply rooted in his spiritual walk, viewing physical death as a transition within the Christian faith. “In this Christian walk, death is our introduction to Christ. When we accept Christ, we are dying ourselves for His sake.”
Honouring a “Gifted” Marriage
The couple’s journey was well-documented, particularly their resilience during Joyce’s long battle with kidney failure. Reflecting on their bond, Krowbar expressed immense gratitude for the time they were granted together.
“I honour the Lord for what He gifted me (a really good marriage) for the time He allowed. I loved this girl and I deeply, deeply miss her,” he shared.
Krowbar had previously credited Joyce as a pillar of his life, noting that her encouragement was instrumental in both his personal growth and his successful career in the gospel industry.
Navigating the “Deep Miss”
While his faith provides a framework for understanding, the DJ did not shy away from the raw human emotion of loss. He admitted that adjusting to a life without his primary support system has been incredibly difficult.
By sharing his vulnerability, Krowbar noted that expressing these emotions is a vital part of his healing process. His message has resonated with many followers, serving as a testament to the power of faith in finding peace amidst profound sorrow.
