I prayed for death – King Kaka
Image: Tbt: King KakaKennedy Ombima, or as you know him, King Kaka, has opened up about one of the most difficult periods of his life, recalling a mysterious illness he battled two to three years ago that nearly cost him his life.
Speaking during a candid interview with media personality Oga Obinna on Monday night, April 13, 2026, the rapper described the frustration of being gravely ill while doctors struggled to identify the cause.
A Battle Without Answers
King Kaka revealed that despite undergoing numerous tests, all results came back negative, leaving him without a diagnosis or clear treatment path.
“There was a time I was praying for a disease… wacha nipatwe na kitu ndio waanze kutreat,” he said, explaining how desperate he became for answers.
He admitted that repeated assurances from doctors that he was fine only deepened his frustration, as his condition continued to worsen.
Moments of Despair
At the peak of his illness, his health deteriorated rapidly, leaving him physically weak and emotionally drained. He recalled moments of deep reflection and despair, even reaching a point where he felt ready to accept death.
“There was a time I bargained with God… I was like, ‘I know this is my time and I’m ready for it,’” he shared.
Preparing for the Worst
The situation became so severe that the rapper began preparing for the worst. He revealed that he even misled his family to ensure they took him to hospital, fearing his children might witness him being carried away in a body bag.
“Nilidanganya home ndio wanipeleke hospitali… I could not walk, I could not eat, I used to crawl to the washroom,” he said.
Once admitted, he contacted his lawyer to update his will, convinced that his end was near.
“I knew it was coming… I called my lawyer and told him we need to update the will,” he added.
Physical and Emotional Toll
King Kaka also described the severe physical impact of the illness, noting that he lost significant weight to the point where even sitting became painful.
“I could not sit because I was so thin… they used to put a duvet on the back seat and I would lie there,” he recalled.
A Second Chance at Life
Despite the ordeal, the rapper eventually made a recovery—something he now considers nothing short of a miracle.
“When I got healed… people would tell me ‘God is great,’” he said.
He added that his experience has given him a renewed perspective on life and gratitude for his health.
“Watu wananiuliza siku hizi uko na furaha… mimi nilibargain kurudi hapa mahali niko and I’m healthy,” he reflected.
Today, King Kaka views his recovery as a second chance, one that has reshaped his outlook on life and deepened his appreciation for every moment.
