Iko Nini Podcast Studio Robbed- Mwafreeka Offers Sh100,000 Reward For Leads

Popular Kenyan podcast Iko Nini has fallen victim to a targeted burglary. In the early hours of Sunday, April 12, 2026, three men broke into the show’s studio, making off with high-end filming equipment essential to the production.

The Midnight Heist

Host Makarios Ouma, popularly known as Mwafreeka, revealed that he had locked up the studio around 3:34 AM. The theft was discovered just a few hours later, at approximately 7:30 AM, when his nephew alerted him to the break-in.

Interestingly, the thieves did not force their way in. Mwafreeka noted that the studio’s padlock was not broken, suggesting the intruders managed to unlock it without using force—a detail that has left the production team puzzled.

Equipment Stolen

The thieves focused specifically on the studio’s visual gear, leaving the computers untouched. The stolen items include:

  • Two Sony A7 IV cameras

  • A Sigma wide-angle lens

  • A high-quality zoom lens used for close-up shots

  • Camera stands

Identifying the Suspects

Security footage captured two of the three individuals involved:

  • Suspect 1: Seen wearing a baseball cap, a denim overshirt, and dark shoes. He was armed with a torch and a crowbar.

  • Suspect 2: Also in a baseball cap, wearing a silk or linen overshirt, dark trousers, and light-colored shoes. Notably, he was wearing gloves and carrying what appeared to be shears.

A Call for Justice

Determined to recover the equipment and hold the perpetrators accountable, Mwafreeka has announced a Sh100,000 reward for any information that leads to the successful arrest of the thieves.

The robbery marks a significant setback for one of Kenya’s most influential digital platforms. Supporters and fellow content creators have been urged to stay vigilant and report any sightings of the stolen gear or the individuals described.
