Inside Weezdom’s Rehab Journey and the Silent Addiction Crisis Among Kenyan Stars
Weezdom has announced that he is stepping away from music for good, following a personal transformation after months battling alcohol addiction.
Speaking to Nation’s Showbuzz, the artist revealed that he has closed the chapter on his music career and is now shifting his focus to artist management.
“I don’t think I’ll be releasing any more music after all these years,” he said. “I’m moving into artist management—I’ve done it before for Bahati and many others. That’s where my energy is going now.”
Weezdom, who has previously opened up about his struggles with depression and addiction, reflected on his journey to sobriety, stressing that recovery is a deeply personal decision.
“No one can pull you out of addiction—it has to come from within,” he said. “Rehab alone doesn’t fix it. You need the mental strength to make that decision yourself. I made the hard choice to quit alcohol. It wasn’t easy, but I realized that if I couldn’t save myself, no one else could.”
He also shed light on what he describes as a widespread but silent addiction crisis among Kenyan celebrities.
“I know some who are deep into cocaine—it’s a ticking time bomb. Some of the people setting trends online today might not be okay two or three years from now if they don’t get help,” he warned.
Weezdom also cited gambling as another growing problem in celebrity circles.
“There’s a gospel artist I know who sold his TV and even his car just to gamble. He’s lost millions. Addiction—whether to drugs, alcohol, or betting—is becoming a serious issue among Kenyan celebrities right now.”
