Is Betty Bayo’s daughter spoilt? Sky Kanyari explains why she fired her nanny

Sky Kanyari has addressed claims surrounding the dismissal of her former nanny, insisting that the decision was made by her and not her father, Prophet Victor Kanyari.

In a video shared online, Sky clarified that she was the one who decided to let the nanny go, rejecting suggestions that her father was behind the decision.

“It’s not my dad. It’s me who fired her,” Sky stated.

Confidence vs. Rudeness

Sky also addressed how her personality and communication style are perceived by others.

She explained that she expects the former nanny may describe her as “rude,” but she disagrees with that assessment. Instead, Sky said she considers herself a confident and outspoken young person who is comfortable expressing her thoughts.

“I am not rude, I’m just an outspoken kid. I am confident about what I say. I am not going to shy off,” she said.

She further explained that some of her interactions with the nanny involved responding to what she felt were disrespectful remarks directed at her.

Sky recalled confronting the nanny about the issue, saying she had asked: “Why are you being rude to me? You don’t have to be rude.”

According to her, her direct approach was sometimes misunderstood as disrespect, yet she viewed it as standing up for herself.

Speaking Out and Social Expectations

During the conversation, Sky also reflected on how confident children are sometimes perceived, especially within African communities.

She suggested that outspoken young people may sometimes be judged negatively rather than recognised for their confidence.

“I would say Africans would refer [to] confidence as I don’t know,” she remarked, highlighting what she sees as a difference between being assertive and being considered disrespectful.

The Kanyari Family in the Public Eye

Sky is the daughter of Kenyan preacher Victor Kanyari and late gospel singer Betty Bayo.

The family has often attracted public attention, with discussions around their personal lives frequently becoming topics of conversation online.

Sky’s comments have added to ongoing discussions about parenting, children expressing themselves, and how young people navigate family issues while growing up in the public eye.
