Jalang’o Advises Eric Omondi To Challenge Babu Owino For Embakasi Seat
Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP), Phelix Odiwuor—better known as Jalang’o—has publicly urged comedian and activist Eric Omondi to dive into formal politics by contesting the Embakasi East parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
In a social media post shared on Monday, November 3, 2025, Jalang’o expressed gratitude to his constituents in Lang’ata before turning his attention to the activist:
“When people have confidence in what you do!! I thank the people of Langata for trusting me with this job! Siasa kidogo kazi kwa wingi!!! [A little bit of politics, a lot of work!!!] @ericomondi nipigie tuongee uniwachie hii mbogi yako, enda usimame Embakasii East, Babu anatoka anapanda juu! [Call me, let’s talk so you can leave me your crew, go run in Embakasi East, Babu is leaving and moving up!]”
The Lang’ata MP acknowledged Omondi’s significant following and signaled his intent to meet with the comedian to sway those supporters to his camp.
Babu Owino’s Anticipated Exit
Jalang’o’s pointed advice appears to be a direct response to the political ambitions of the current Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino. Owino has already announced his intention to pursue a higher political office in 2027, specifically declaring that he will run for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat.
In fact, Owino made it clear in October 2025 that he plans to challenge the incumbent, Johnson Sakaja, even if his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chooses not to back his bid. Jalang’o is essentially inviting Omondi to fill the political void that Owino’s anticipated gubernatorial run will create.
