Kenya Met Department Forecasts Continued Rain, Cold, and Wind This Week
The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued an advisory urging residents across various regions to prepare for persistent rain, cold, and windy conditions expected to prevail throughout the current week.
In its latest forecast, the weatherman indicates that the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and North-Western Kenya will experience continued rainfall. Additionally, the Coast region is forecast to be impacted by strong southerly to south-easterly winds, with speeds anticipated to exceed 25 knots (12.86 m/s) during this period.
Regional Breakdown of Weather Conditions:
- Central Highlands & Nairobi (Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties): These areas are expected to see sunny intervals during the mornings for most of the week. However, Friday and Saturday mornings are specifically forecast to bring some rainfall. Showers are also likely over a few places during the afternoons and nights throughout the entire week. Temperatures will range from a maximum of 26°C to a minimum of 26°C (likely a typo, assuming the maximum is higher than minimum for a range, but reflecting the original text).

Maximum temperatures are forecast at 30°C, with minimums dipping to 10°C.
- Northern Kenya (Turkana and Samburu counties): These northern parts are expected to experience rains and showers throughout both day and night for the entire week. Temperatures will range from a high of 35°C to a low of 11°C.
- Northeastern & Eastern Arid Lands (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties): These arid regions are predicted to have sunny conditions throughout the day, followed by cloudy nights. They will experience the week’s highest maximum temperatures at 36°C, with minimums at 14°C.
