Leaked sextape: Tiwa Savage Opens Up on Surviving Her Darkest Career Moment

Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has revealed how she endured one of the most challenging periods of her life — the leak of her sex tape in 2021 — which came just as she was grieving the death of her father.

Speaking to British media personality Zeze Mills in an interview published on YouTube on Friday, August 8, 2025, the All Over hitmaker described that time as the darkest chapter of her career.

“My dad died, and my sex tape was released. The only way I could survive was to not think about it,” Tiwa shared, explaining that avoiding dwelling on the scandal was crucial to her emotional survival.

Despite the pain, Tiwa expressed gratitude for the chance to speak openly about her journey, calling the interview “a blessing” for giving her space to reflect after years of personal and professional trials.

“Just the fact that you even want to talk to me, that people still want to hear from me after all these years, feels good,” she said. “I’ve gone through so much, but have I really enjoyed the moment?”

The 45-year-old also opened up about her love life, admitting that what she once thought was love in past relationships, including her marriage, was in hindsight only infatuation.

“I’ve never felt true love except with my son,” she revealed, adding that repeated heartbreaks have made her question whether romantic love is meant for her. “Maybe love isn’t for me in this lifetime.”
