Maureen Waititu complains about ads using her image without consent
Maureen Waititu has called out the misuse of her images in fake advertisements, saying the practice is built on falsehoods and is damaging to her personal brand.
In a statement shared on Instagram on April 19, 2026, the content creator addressed the issue after repeatedly coming across her photos being used to promote products she has never endorsed. She noted that what initially seemed like a minor concern has now escalated beyond what she can ignore.
“I always wonder how some people build businesses on lies and still expect to thrive,” she said.
Ongoing misuse of her image
Maureen revealed that for months, followers have been alerting her to a page using her images without permission. Although she initially chose not to respond, hoping the issue would fade, the continued activity forced her to speak out.
According to her, the products being advertised are not ones she has ever used or associated with. She also raised concern that the page appears to rely on stolen content from multiple sources, making the matter more serious.
Standing firm on integrity
She emphasised that her response is not just about unauthorised use of photos, but about protecting values she holds strongly—honesty and integrity. She stressed the importance of clearly distancing herself from any brands or businesses she has no relationship with.
Maureen also pointed out that the false promotions mislead the public, particularly those familiar with her personal weight loss journey, by creating a misleading narrative around her transformation.
Protecting her brand
The influencer noted that such actions risk undermining a reputation she has built over more than a decade. She warned that misuse of her image can erode trust, confuse her audience, and damage the authenticity she has worked to maintain.
“It’s important for me to clearly disassociate myself from brands and businesses I have never worked with,” she said, before directly calling out those behind the page, adding, “Shame on you.”
