MC Jesse discusses his past as a hair-stylist and how Nameless changed his trajectory

Kenyan comedian and media personality MC Jessy has shared a humorous and emotional story about his early struggles in Nairobi, revealing how celebrated musician Nameless unknowingly became part of his hustle journey.

In a detailed Facebook post shared on Sunday, May 24, 2026, MC Jessy reflected on the difficult days when he was desperately searching for work in Nairobi and surviving through small jobs while trying to build his career.

According to the comedian, he once worked at a salon in Nairobi’s CBD owned by his longtime friend Juvinaris Kyalo, where he was assigned various duties, including washing clients’ hair after styling sessions.

“So, this guy called ‘Nameless’ is something else,” Jessy wrote humorously while recalling his “pilka pilka” days of job hunting in Nairobi.

He explained that life at the time was far from glamorous, and he often handled salon duties ranging from head massages to assisting with dreadlock maintenance for clients.

“Juvinaris akanipatia kazi ya kuosha watu nywele after amewatengeneza. Wamama wa Kiambu hapa nilikua nawapiga head massage safi sana mpaka karibu wanipee PIN ya M-Shwari,” he joked.

Jessy went on to reveal that Nameless happened to be one of the salon’s regular clients, especially for dreadlock grooming sessions. He recalled how he would sometimes avoid being the one assigned to wash the singer’s hair out of nervousness and awkwardness.

“Sasa… Nameless alikua client wetu wa dredi. Mimi nikiona tumekaribia kumaliza twisting, nahepa najifanya nimeenda choo ndio nisimuoshe,” he narrated.

However, he admitted that there were moments he got caught off guard and still ended up helping with the musician’s dreadlocks.

“Lakini saa zingine nilikua napatikana offguard najipata nikimsugua dredi. Sikumind sana juu alikua anatoboka ‘kamia mbili’ hivi,” he added humorously.

The comedian also reflected on the financial struggles he faced during that period, saying he owned very few clothes and was living a modest life as he chased opportunities in the city.

“Hiyo time maisha ilikua inanichezea kalongolongo kidogo… Nilikua na T-shirt mbili: moja ya ‘Kimbo’ na ingine ya ‘Safaricom.’ Na jeans mbili za ‘Savco,’” he shared.

Jessy described Nameless as a major celebrity even back then, noting that he admired the musician’s confidence, style, and success from a distance while quietly trying to survive Nairobi life.

The story has since amused many fans online, with many praising MC Jessy for openly sharing the humble beginnings behind his successful entertainment career.
