Tanzanian music star Marioo has urged Kenyan artist Nadia Mukami to publicly name the musician who allegedly mistreated her during a costly video shoot.

The call comes shortly after Nadia shared a troubling account of a past international project that left her emotionally drained and financially strained.

Marioo seeks clarification

Although Nadia did not reveal the identity of the artist involved, online speculation quickly pointed fingers at Marioo, largely due to their past collaboration.

In response, Marioo took to Instagram Stories to defend himself, asking Nadia to clarify who was responsible. He said the growing assumptions were placing unnecessary pressure on him, despite his belief that he fully committed to their 2020 hit Jipe.

Inside Nadia’s costly experience

During an interview on a podcast hosted by Maandy, Nadia opened up about what she described as one of the most difficult moments in her career.

She revealed that she invested close to KSh1 million in the project, travelling to Tanzania with a six-member team by road in a 14-hour journey in an effort to cut costs.

Hours of waiting and frustration

The shoot, scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. on a beach, quickly turned into a nightmare when the featured artist failed to show up. Attempts to reach both the artist and their management went unanswered throughout the day.

Nadia and her team reportedly waited for 12 hours under harsh conditions. By the time the collaborator arrived at 7:00 p.m., she was exhausted, with her makeup ruined and frustration mounting.

She admitted the situation pushed her to tears, especially given the significant financial investment and lack of communication.

A difficult compromise

According to Nadia, the situation worsened after filming eventually began. She claimed there was no apology for the delay, and instead, her team was made to feel at fault.

She further alleged that at around 3:00 a.m., she was pressured to record an additional feature for the other artist. She was told her own project would not be released unless she complied, prompting her to go ahead with the recording to avoid losing her investment.

While Nadia has since said she has moved on, Marioo’s appeal has intensified calls for her to clear the air and identify the individual involved.
