Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a scheduled power interruption on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, affecting various regions across the country. The planned maintenance is aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply in the affected areas.

Nairobi County

  • Githurai 45 Area (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Includes Githurai 45, Co-op Bank Githurai, Naivas, Kingdom Sacco, Mt. Kenya, Kimbo, Mwana Mukia, Clanne Academy, Kassmatt, Kwa DO, Mukinye, Mwiki School, Kimbo Police Station, Farmers Choice, part of Clay City, and surrounding customers.

  • Lucky Summer Area (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Includes Lucky Summer, Cieko, and adjacent customers.

Trans Nzoia County

  • Bikeke and Alakara Areas (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Affected locations include Bikeke Boys, Bikeke Girls, Area 51, Maili, Machungwa, Wehoya, Musemwa, Alakara, Meru Farm 7, Misemwa, Nyakinywa, and surrounding areas.

  • Norek, Meru Farm, Welcome Areas (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Includes Norek, Meru Farm, Welcome, and Mogoywet at Wamuini A.

Uasin Gishu County

  • Chuiyat, Usalama, Tulwet Areas (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Areas affected include Chuiyat, Usalama Academy, Koisagat, Kamoiyo, and Chuiyat Secondary School, as well as nearby customers.

Nandi County

  • Kurgung and Tulwo Areas (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Power interruption will affect Kurgung, Tulwo, and adjacent customers.

Kakamega County

  • Makunga and Lutaso Areas (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Includes Makunga Market, Ikoli Market, Navakholo Market, Nabacha Market, Karanda Market, and Mumias Weigh Bridge.

Murang’a County

  • AAA Growers and Gikono Areas (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Power will be off in AAA Growers, Gakuyo Estate, Makuyu Dumping Site, Gikono Dispensary, Gikono, and surrounding areas.

Tharaka Nithi County

  • Kairuni and Kieganguru Areas (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.):
    Includes Neo Petrol Station, Kairuni Factory, Polepole Market, Kirurumwe Picnic site, Kieganguru DO’s offices, and nearby locations.

Kwale County

  • Matuga and Kombani Areas (9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.):
    Affected areas include KSG Matuga, Kombani Secondary, Matuga, Voroni, Bethany, Matuga Town, and surrounding customers.


KPLC has advised customers in the listed areas to make the necessary arrangements and exercise caution during the scheduled outage. The maintenance works are part of ongoing efforts to enhance power distribution and minimize unplanned outages in the future.
