Planned Power Outage Scheduled Across Several Counties on Thursday, May 8, 2025

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled electricity interruption affecting multiple regions across the country on Thursday, 8th May 2025, to allow for essential maintenance work. The planned outage will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in most areas, with some locations experiencing shorter durations.

Affected Areas by Region:

Nairobi Region

• Lower Kabete (Partial): Lower Kabete Rd, KSG, UoN Lower Kabete, Mwimuto, NSSF, New Kitsuru Estate, Saunders Close & surrounding areas.

• Kiambiu (Entire Area): Full power outage across Kiambiu and nearby locations.

• Parklands (Wambugu Area): Wambugu Road, Wambugu Inn, and adjacent customers.

• South C (Partial): Kenya Water Institute, Akiba Estate, Five Star Estate, Tabsera Academy, Memon Estate, Halai Estate, Bandari Villas, and institutions such as St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, Masjid Bukhari Mosque, Missionary School, and others.

Kajiado County

• Kiserian, Matasia, Birika (Partial): Areas including Kanisani Rd, Kwekwe, Kahuho, Philothea, NPC, Brookhurst School, Kipeto, Ostrich Farm, and Olerai School.

Central Rift Region (Nakuru County)

• Majimoto and Sekenani: Markets and surrounding areas such as Talek, Morijo, Narosora, Entasekera, and popular hotels along the Sekenani–Talek corridor.

North Rift Region (Nandi County)

• Belekenya: Power supply will be off in Belekenya and nearby neighborhoods.

South Nyanza Region (Homa Bay County)

• Nyandiwa and Magunga: Including areas of Ngeri, Nyagwedhe, Kikubi, and local marketplaces.

Mt. Kenya Region

• Embu County: Areas of Kiangucu, Ugweri, and Ngeniari, including Nthagaiya Secondary and Macumo Secondary Schools.

• Murang’a County: Ruchu Girls, Kabati, Gacharage, Gathugu, and nearby communities.

• Laikipia County: Ichunga, Baraka, Equator Girls, Comfort Garden, Sweetwaters Tented Camp, and surrounding schools and institutions.

• Kiambu County: Areas within Ngoingwa, Maryhill, and Makwa, including Kilimambogo Millers, Mpesa Foundation, and Makwa Boys.

Coast Region

• Mombasa County (Nyali – Partial): Fidel Odinga Rd, Shell Nyali, Moyne Drive, Mama Ngina Rd, Parklane, Coral Drive, and several hotels such as Reef Hotel and Mombasa Beach Hotel.

• Kwale County (Diani): From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., affecting Swahili Beach Resort, Diani Marine, Carrefour Supermarket, and Diani Sea Resort, among others.

Kenya Power advises affected residents and businesses to plan accordingly and apologizes for any inconvenience caused. The maintenance is aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring grid stability.
