Planned Power Outages Set for Monday, August 4, 2025, Across Multiple Counties

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a planned power maintenance schedule affecting parts of four counties on Monday, August 4, 2025. The temporary outages are intended to facilitate routine maintenance and system upgrades aimed at improving service reliability in the affected regions.
Below are the details of the planned outages:
Central Rift Region
Affected County: Bomet County
Area: Koiwa Market and Surrounding Areas
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Residents and businesses in Rorok Tea Factory, Kobel Tea Factory, Siomo EPZ Tea Factory, as well as Cheptalal, Taboino, Kitala, Kimarwandi, Embomos, Bosto, Satiet, Kaptebengwet, Kiptenden, and surrounding areas will experience an interruption in power supply.
North Rift Region
Affected County: West Pokot County
Area: Murkwijit and Surrounding Areas
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Power supply will be interrupted in Tartar, Comolee, Keringet, Kaplelach Koror, Cheptuya, Kaptarin, Adurkoit, and nearby locations.
Mt. Kenya Region
Affected County: Embu County
Areas: Embu Airstrip and Gachoka
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The following locations will be affected: Embu Airstrip, Don Bosco, Jeremiah Nyagah Technical Institute, Gachoka Market & DOs, Kuku Afya, Kangeta Fides, Highland Canners, Gachuriri Market, Yonder Water Pumps, KHE, Rugakori Primary, Kamucinga, Muraru Market, Muraru Primary, Meca Market, Kangungi Primary, Mbita Primary, Kamwimbi Primary, Emidan Farm, and adjacent customers.
Coast Region
Affected County: Taita Taveta County
Area: Bura and Surrounding Areas
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Affected locations include the entire Bura Station and Mission, as well as Sarova Saltlick Hotels & Lodges, Zare, Nyolo, Mnamu, Tungulu, and surrounding areas.
Advisory to Customers
KPLC urges all affected customers to make necessary arrangements and treat all electrical installations as live during the outage period for safety. The utility company has committed to restoring power promptly upon completion of maintenance work.
