Alex Mwakideu has sparked fresh debate about modern relationships after questioning why more people are reaching their mid-30s without getting married—and appear completely comfortable with it.
Speaking on his breakfast show on Radio 47, Mwakideu posed a thought-provoking question that resonated with many listeners.
“Siku hizi wanaume na wanawake wanaingia miaka 35 kama hawajaoa na hata hawastui. Mbona hamtaki ndoa?” he asked.

Others echoed similar sentiments, noting that planning one’s life comes first, with marriage following later.
“Unajipanga kwanza, ndoa inakuja baadaye,” as many put it.
A Debate That Mirrors the Times
Mwakideu’s question quickly sparked mixed reactions both on air and online. While some listeners agreed with his concerns, others defended the evolving outlook, arguing that societal expectations around marriage have changed.
Some listeners shared their views in the comments:
“Kuoa si achievement… sisi tuko na stress za pesa
