Ringtone Apoko Speaks Out After Arrest Over KSh 50 Million Land Dispute

Ringtone Apoko has finally addressed the public following his recent arrest and court appearance in connection with a KSh 50 million land dispute.

In an interview with Trudy Kitui, Ringtone downplayed the incident, describing his arrest as one of the many challenges faced by “men of God.” With a hint of humor, he likened his experience to biblical figures who also faced persecution.

“Jesus himself was arrested. Paul was arrested. Daniel too. So who hasn’t been arrested?” Ringtone said. “As servants of God, we see these as trials. Prisons are for people — some go in wrongly, others rightly — but they’re still trials.”

Despite the case still being active in court, Ringtone briefly shed light on the allegations, revealing that a woman accused him of attempting to grab her land after allegedly being misled.

“It’s a misunderstanding. I was accused of wanting a piece of land owned by a certain woman. She was deceived into believing I wanted to steal it, so she sued me in 2023. The court even issued an order to keep me off the land,” he explained quietly.

According to the artist, he had already told the woman that he had no interest in the property, and the reemergence of the case has made him suspect she’s being manipulated once again.

On May 19, 2025, Ringtone was released after spending four days in custody. He secured his freedom through a KSh 3 million bond or KSh 1 million cash bail.

The charges accuse him of conspiring to defraud a businesswoman of the land located in Karen, Nairobi. However, Ringtone maintains his innocence and has expressed full confidence in Kenya’s judiciary.

“I believe in our judicial system. Justice is served in court, and I trust I will get it. I’ve been defamed for nothing, but I know my God won’t let me down,” he said.

He also dismissed the allegations as part of a wider smear campaign.

“It’s God who gave me this name. Even Jesus was defamed. I have no need for that land, and my conscience is clear. Maybe some people are trying to fix me or teach me a lesson. I don’t know what my enemies are planning.”

Despite the ongoing legal battle, Ringtone remains optimistic, rooted in faith, and confident that the truth will come out.
