Videos Emerge of Late Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were Warning of Threats to His Life

New footage has surfaced showing the late Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Ong’ondo Were, voicing fears that his life was in danger—allegations that now appear tragically prophetic.

In one video recorded just two months before his death, the soft-spoken MP told constituents during a public gathering that certain individuals were actively plotting to kill him.

Ong’ondo was fatally shot on April 30, 2025, by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle near the City Mortuary roundabout in Nairobi at around 7:30 p.m.

The footage paints a picture of a man who felt hunted. He had previously appealed to security agencies for protection, claiming he was being followed. Addressing the media at the time, he expressed concern over rising tension and violence in Kasipul, attributing the unrest to outsiders who, he said, were intentionally destabilizing public events.

He cited several troubling incidents—including a funeral in Nyatindo East Kamagak Ward, where hired goons disrupted the proceedings he attended. Were criticized local security officials for their silence on such events.

“In both cases, the security committee made no statement,” he had noted.

He also described a harrowing episode in God Nyango, where the road was blocked after a funeral, preventing him from leaving the area. “Luckily, I had my security team,” he recalled.

The tension only escalated. At another funeral the next day, he faced direct threats. “One of the known criminals warned me not to speak—even before prayers,” he told a crowd.

In a separate video filmed two weeks prior to his death, the MP alleged that a group of people from outside Kasipul were plotting to assassinate him. “If you hear I’ve been killed, Kasipul will never be the same,” he warned. “But I believe they won’t succeed—I sleep with a Bible on my phone and another under my pillow.”

He further claimed a meeting involving an MCA had taken place to plan chaos at an upcoming funeral—allegedly as cover for his assassination.

In yet another clip from the 2024 Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kasipul, Were walked out of the event, citing harassment and intimidation. “A junior officer came in the morning, intimidating people. No civil servant operates in isolation of politics,” he told the gathering before exiting.

The videos, now widely circulated, have added a chilling layer of context to his untimely death—prompting renewed calls for a thorough investigation into the threats he faced and the circumstances surrounding his assassination.
