Uchawi?- Nyota Ndogo Responds To Online Critics Afer Killing A Giant Black Mamba In Her Compound

Veteran musician Nyota Ndogo has hit back at online critics following an incident where she killed a large black mamba that had strayed into her home. The singer’s actions sparked a heated debate on social media, with a section of Kenyans suggesting she should have contacted the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to relocate the reptile.

Responding to the backlash, the celebrated artist explained that her primary motivation was the immediate safety of her household. She dismissed the idea that she should have waited for professional intervention while a deadly predator was on her property.

Rejecting “Double Standards”

Nyota Ndogo was particularly vocal about what she termed as public hypocrisy. She argued that had the situation turned tragic, the same people criticizing her now would have used the incident to spread malicious rumors.

“If this snake were to bite my servant and he died, people would be talking about how I offered him as a sacrifice to become rich,” she stated.

She emphasized that she was not willing to risk a human life for the sake of public perception, especially given the high mortality rate associated with black mamba bites.

Practicality vs. Conservation

The singer also questioned the feasibility of calling KWS during an active emergency. She pointed out that a snake in a living space represents an immediate threat that requires an instant response rather than a wait for authorities to arrive.

Beyond the practical dangers, she touched on religious perspectives, noting that snakes are rarely viewed as “good animals” in traditional or spiritual contexts. She maintained that the black mamba is inherently dangerous and has no place in human habitation.

While some warned her of “bad luck” following the incident, many of her followers stood by her, agreeing that protecting one’s family and staff takes precedence over conservation efforts when a life-threatening animal is involved.
