Victoria Kimani has opened up about her brief yet memorable experience working in the orbit of embattled American rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, calling it a moment of “divine protection” in hindsight.

Speaking on the Mic Cheque podcast, Kimani revealed that her encounter with Diddy stemmed from her time signed to a publishing company—a setup that often allows artists and producers within the same network to collaborate freely. It was through this arrangement that she began working with Grammy-nominated producer Mario Winans, who eventually introduced her to Diddy’s famed Daddy’s House studio.

“I didn’t go to any freak-off. I only met him once,” Kimani clarified, referencing recent allegations surrounding Diddy. “I was just working with people like Mario Winans, and when you’re under the same publishing house, it’s easier to collaborate. That’s how I ended up in Diddy’s studio.”

During that session, Kimani wrote two songs that impressed everyone present. Winans eventually invited Diddy to come in and listen to the tracks.

“He walked in, listened to both songs, shook my hand and said, ‘That’s fire,’ then walked out,” she recalled. “That was the first and last time I saw him.”

Looking back, Kimani believes she was spared from deeper involvement for a reason.

“The Holy Spirit was protecting me,” she said. “Honestly, I also don’t think I was his type. At the time, he was with Cassie.”

Her brush with Diddy didn’t end there. One of the songs she’d written, titled “Bougie s**”*, caught Diddy’s attention and he wanted Cassie to record it. Kimani was instructed to return to Daddy’s House studio to vocal-produce the session.

But fate stepped in again.

“I was broke. It was raining, and I couldn’t even afford the train fare,” Kimani confessed. “I didn’t show up, and they cussed me out. But even then, I think God was protecting me.”

The Mic Cheque hosts playfully teased that she might’ve ended up with some “fun stories” had she made it to that session—but Kimani stood firm in her belief that missing it was a blessing in disguise.

Her story takes on renewed weight amid the legal storm currently surrounding Sean Combs. In recent months, Diddy has been hit with multiple civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and other serious crimes. These allegations prompted federal raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami in March 2024, intensifying public scrutiny.

While Kimani’s experience was short-lived, it now serves as a powerful reminder of the unseen forces that shape our paths.

“At the time, I was just upset I couldn’t make it. But now? I see it differently,” she said.
