Nairobi governor Mike Sonko allowed hawkers to ply their trade within the Central Business District (CBD). Sonko’s directive allows hawkers to operate in the CBD from 2pm.<\/p>\n

Hawkers have now taken over pedestrian walkways and all empty space in the CBD. Kenya Archives in particular is a hot spot for hawkers.<\/p>\n

Hygiene has now become a major challenge as hawkers throw garbage all over the CBD. Street children, beggars and pickpockets have also flocked into the CBD.<\/p>\n

Nairobians protest<\/h2>\n

Nairobians have been grumbling on social media about how standards have deteriorated in the CBD. The CBD has been reduced one big open-air market.<\/p>\n
