Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has praised his wife for believing in his dreams, even when he could not support his family financially.<\/p>\n
In an interview with YouTuber Trudy Kitui, Omanyala said that his wife, Wanjugu Mwende, met him in 2016 at a track event. She was a student at the time, while he was still in college.<\/p>\n
“She played hard to get, but I finally got her after seven months,” Omanyala said. “That’s when the journey started.”<\/p>\n
Omanyala said that his wife was supportive of his dream of becoming a professional athlete, even when he was not making much money.<\/p>\n
“She came through big time,” he said. “She was working at Mama Lucy hospital, and she would give me her salary to help support the family.”<\/p>\n
Omanyala said that he was also contributing to the household expenses, but his income was limited.<\/p>\n
“I was only getting Sh5,000 if I won a race,” he said. “Of course, I was bringing something, but it wasn’t much.”<\/p>\n
Omanyala said that his wife’s support was essential to his success.<\/p>\n
“She believed in me, she believed in the dreams I had, and we helped each other carry that dream until we reached where we are today,” he said.<\/p>\n
Omanyala also spoke about the challenges of dealing with unwanted attention from women since becoming a star athlete.<\/p>\n
“I don’t text women who I know are not serious,” he said. “I will ignore their messages for six months. Most of the time, I just archive their chats. My social media managers are the ones who go through my messages and respond to the important ones.”<\/p>\n
Omanyala said that he is grateful for his wife’s support and that he is committed to their marriage.<\/p>\n
“I know that I am a public figure, but I am also a husband and a father,” he said. “I am committed to my wife and my family, and I will never do anything to jeopardize that.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
