A Nakuru police officer, identified as Constable Nicholas Musau, is in custody after a fatal shooting at a bar early Wednesday morning, December 13, 2023. The incident began with a dispute over an unpaid bill of Sh16,000.<\/p>\n
According to police reports, Constable Musau refused to settle the bill with the barmaid, Ms. Ann Maina. The disagreement escalated, and Officer Musau allegedly threatened to shoot Ms. Maina. When other patrons intervened, he opened fire, fatally wounding Ms. Maina and injuring three others.<\/p>\n
The injured, two men and two women, were rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital. Ms. Maina was pronounced dead at the scene and her body taken to the hospital morgue.<\/p>\n
Constable Musau fled the scene but was later apprehended by his colleagues and locked up at the Kaptembwa Police Station in Nakuru County. A pistol believed to be the weapon used in the shooting, along with six spent cartridges, was recovered as evidence.<\/p>\n
