Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the tragedy and hold those responsible accountable.<\/p>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:62\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:62\">Derrick Kimathi, one of the owners of the involved premises, has surrendered to the police.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"10:1-10:93\">Police are still pursuing other suspects,\u00a0including Kimathi&#8217;s partner and the truck driver.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"11:1-12:0\">Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion and potential legal violations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.k24tv.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/gas-blast.jpg?resize=600%2C400&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"List of NEMA officials asked to step aside following Embakasi gas explosion\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Kimathi, through his lawyer previously refuted claims that the gas plant was operating illegally clarifying that it was operating as a garage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our client had not been operating a gas filling operation on that premises. The premises, for the last few years, has been operating as a garage and until Thursday, it was still operating as a garage.
