I\u2019ve tried to do everything right. I\u2019ve tried to be supportive, prayerful, and a good baby daddy. Even with my ex-wife, I\u2019ve done my best to ensure everything is fine. But now, it\u2019s falling apart again. How can I stand before people as Dr. Ofweneke and still have the authority to speak to men?&#8221; he expressed.<\/p>\n<p>Following the end of his marriage, Ofweneke reflected on his life and the patterns that may have contributed to his failed relationships.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that his mother left him when he was just a week old, and his father remarried when he was four. He didn\u2019t grow up with his father or stepmother, instead living with various relatives and working on farms in Western Kenya and Malava during his childhood.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When it all ended, I had to reflect on my life. My mum left when I was a week old, and my dad remarried when I was four. I didn\u2019t really grow up around them. I reunited with my family in class eight. Before that, it was all aunts, uncles, and even living on the streets at some point,&#8221; he shared.<\/p>\n<p>This fear of abandonment, rooted in his childhood, caused him to hold back in relationships. He admitted that he often loved from a distance, fearing that getting too close would lead to being abandoned, reinforcing his belief that love always ends in loss.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I realized that I\u2019m a lover, but I don\u2019t always give 100 percent because I\u2019m scared that if I love too much, the person will leave. He shared that he communicated this to his current wife, telling her that he\u2019s giving 100 percent of his love but warning her not to take advantage of it, as it would validate his childhood fears and make it difficult for him to love again.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I keep telling my current wife that I\u2019m risking love for the first time and giving her 100 percent,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But if she takes advantage of it, she\u2019ll have proven my childhood self right, making it hard for me to love anyone else.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also acknowledged his past struggle with alcohol, which he admitted led to unhealthy thoughts about women.
