Henry Desagu recently made his first public appearance after struggling with depression and alcohol addiction. On Sunday, March 2, he attended a church service at JCM Church, led by Bishop Muthee Kiengei, where he shared his emotional journey to healing and recovery.<\/p>\n
After stepping away from comedy and social media, Desagu expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support he received during his darkest moments. He acknowledged the prayers and encouragement from friends, family, and well-wishers who stood by him.<\/p>\n
“Thank God for healing me, and I appreciate Bishop Ben Guka wa Nairobi Muthee Kiengei for the prayers. Thanks to Mofarm JM for walking with me through this journey. I appreciate everyone for their great support,” he shared.<\/p>\n
Desagu’s struggles with mental health took a toll on his career, leading to a decline in the comedy skits that had made him a household name. His family later revealed that he was battling severe depression and alcoholism, which ultimately led to his hospitalization.<\/p>\n
During his testimony at JCM Church, he openly admitted how deeply life had affected him.<\/p>\n
“I’m the one who always tells you \u2018umbwedede\u2019 on social media, but in reality, life had made me \u2018umbwedede.\u2019 I was sick with depression, but God is good. I went to the hospital and received treatment,” he told the congregation.<\/p>\n
Desagu\u2019s recovery was made possible through the generosity of well-wishers. Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia organized a fundraiser to cover his medical and rehabilitation expenses. Businessman Elijah Njoroge, also known as Mofarm JM, also played a key role in ensuring he received the necessary support.<\/p>\n
During the church service, Bishop Kiengei prayed for Desagu and encouraged him to remain strong and rebuild his career.<\/p>\n
“Now that he is well, Desagu must use his talent to rise again. He should remain strong and continue with his purpose,” the bishop advised.<\/p>\n
In November 2024, Desagu dismissed rumors about his health, posting a video with friends to reassure fans that he was doing well.<\/p>\n
“Team Mwihoko, Team Umbwedede, we\u2019re saying everything\u2019s fine. The King of Mwihoko himself is here, and he\u2019s strong,” he said.<\/p>\n
A friend in the video urged people to stop spreading misinformation, emphasizing that many were already dealing with hardships.<\/p>\n
Despite his public denial, concerning reports had surfaced earlier in the year. Facebook user Mwalimu Francis Njiriri recounted an incident where he allegedly found Desagu in distress, walking in the middle of the road along Thika-Ngoingwa-Mangu Road.
