The ‘Nairobi’ hitmaker recently expressed his admiration for his wife, Chiki Kuruka\u2014a fitness enthusiast, media personality, and professional choreographer\u2014crediting her for his success.<\/p>\n
Since Sauti Sol disbanded, with each member pursuing solo careers, Chiki has taken on the role of managing Bien, a move he considers instrumental in his journey.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Mpasho after his victory at the Trace Music Awards, Bien reflected on the profound impact Chiki has had on his music career.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe journey has been crazy! For an artist, trust is everything\u2014you need someone you can rely on to handle your affairs, someone who has your best interests at heart,\u201d he shared, emphasizing the advantage of being managed by his wife.<\/p>\n
He also pointed out other African artists who are managed by family members and how well they have thrived, reinforcing his belief in choosing the right life partner.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you pick the right partner, everything falls into place,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
On how Chiki has influenced his artistry, Bien proudly stated: “Chiki has taught me how to connect with a global audience!”<\/p>\n
He recalled how, when they started dating, Chiki didn’t speak Swahili, which forced him to communicate in English more frequently. Looking back, he sees this as a factor that sharpened his language skills and enhanced his ability to engage with international audiences.<\/p>\n
“Now, when I\u2019m on stage in another country, it really helps. It has contributed significantly to my growth,” he noted.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on the transition from band life to a solo career, Bien admitted that he faced moments of anxiety, self-doubt, and imposter syndrome.<\/p>\n
“Chiki helped me navigate that period with the right mindset and perspective,” he said.<\/p>\n
He further highlighted how working together has strengthened their bond.<\/p>\n
“There\u2019s never a time when we\u2019re not discussing business, but to us, it\u2019s not just work\u2014it\u2019s our life. Even at midnight in bed, we\u2019ll talk about ideas, but it\u2019s fun for us.”<\/p>\n
