The chilling incident, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, has left the community reeling.<\/p>\n<p>The footage depicts two individuals approaching a terraced house on Elm Street at 5:17 PM. One of them breaks a window, while the other produces a firearm and fires a shot. The two then flee the scene as panicked cries erupt from within the house, including shouts of &#8220;they killed my dad.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"County Durham shooting leaves man dead as locals left stunned by \u2018terrifying&#039; incident\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yxyYDSCy4SU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Durham Constabulary officers arrived at the scene at approximately 5:20 PM, responding to reports of a &#8220;disturbance.&#8221; Despite paramedics&#8217; efforts, the victim, identified locally as Barry Dawson, also known as &#8220;Buck,&#8221; was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Police have arrested a 37-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.<\/p>\n<p>Residents expressed shock and fear following the incident. One neighbor described the shooting as &#8220;terrifying,&#8221; fearing for her safety and that of her young daughter. Another neighbor remarked on the victim&#8217;s character, remembering him as a &#8220;really, really lovely guy&#8221; who was always helpful and friendly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone knew him, and I don&#8217;t think anyone said a bad word about him,&#8221; one resident shared. &#8220;He was a working man and never in any trouble.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The victim, a painter and decorator, was described as a friendly and well-liked member of the community. &#8220;He would always buy us a drink when he was in the club,&#8221; one woman said, &#8220;We would chat all the time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The victim&#8217;s family is receiving support from specialist officers.<\/p>\n<p>Police have cordoned off the scene, and forensic investigations are underway.
