Renowned radio personality Edward Carey Kwach has passed away. According to a statement from family spokesperson Michael Okwiri, Kwach died on the night of April 28, 2025, while undergoing treatment for meningitis.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our cherished son and brother, Carey,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The family paid tribute to Kwach\u2019s influential career, describing him as a beloved figure whose voice left a lasting impression on airwaves across the country.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe will be remembered not only for his warmth and humor but also for his exceptional taste in music, which brought joy and comfort to countless people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Nick Odhiambo, Kwach\u2019s cousin and a fellow broadcaster at Hot 96 FM, remembered him as a trailblazer in the industry.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhen he joined radio in the ’90s, it made my dream feel possible. We had a friendly rivalry, and it\u2019s painful to think that some of our shared ideas will never come to life. I\u2019ll keep the dream alive,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Tributes also poured in from fellow media personalities.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHeartbreaking. A colleague and a friend. Rest in peace, Edward Kwach,\u201d tweeted sports broadcaster Carol Radull.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Spice FM, where Kwach most recently worked, honored his memory with a heartfelt message.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThis is a somber morning for us. We dedicate today\u2019s show to our fallen brother. May his soul rest in eternal peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Veteran broadcaster Maina Kageni reflected on their personal connection, writing:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOne of the best things to ever happen to me was meeting Edward Carey Francis Kwach. His energy and go-getter attitude certainly rubbed off on us.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Bryan Amulyoto, a colleague, simply wrote, \u201cEdward Kwach, may you rest in peace, Babaa.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kwach\u2019s death comes shortly after the family made a public appeal for blood donations during his hospitalization. The family extended their gratitude to all who supported him during that difficult time.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support \u2014 to those who donated blood, visited, and kept Carey in their thoughts and prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Over the years, Kwach held key roles at several top stations, including Hot 96 FM, Nation FM, Capital FM, Homeboyz Radio, and most recently, Spice FM.<\/p>\n
