Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone has spoken out about a recent family dispute involving his son, Abba Marcus, who made viral social media posts late last year claiming the singer\u2019s health was deteriorating.<\/p>\n
In December, Abba attracted widespread attention after alleging that his father was seriously ill and unlikely to recover. At the time, Chameleone had been flown to the United States for treatment.<\/p>\n
Speaking from Tanzania\u2014where he is visiting fellow artist Professor Jay, who is also battling health issues\u2014Chameleone downplayed his son\u2019s remarks, attributing them to inexperience.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s still young, and young people often don\u2019t fully understand what adults face,\u201d Chameleone said. \u201cWe later met, and I explained to him that no one chooses to fall sick. I certainly didn\u2019t ask for a health condition.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the pain caused by Abba\u2019s statements, Chameleone acknowledged that his son\u2019s outburst may have come from a place of concern. \u201cIn his own way, he was expressing worry. But this is a private family matter, and I prefer not to discuss it further,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Abba\u2019s Claims Spark Concern<\/strong><\/p>\n In a now-viral TikTok video, Abba claimed that his father had only two years to live, blaming his condition on alcohol dependency.<\/p>\n \u201cIf my father continues like this, doctors say he has just two years left,\u201d Abba stated. \u201cIt breaks my heart because he\u2019s my father, and I know him better than anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n Chameleone Provides Clarity on His Health<\/strong><\/p>\n Chameleone later confirmed he had been diagnosed with pancreatitis and spent over two months receiving treatment in the U.S. He is still undergoing medication, which could last another year.<\/p>\n \u201cThe condition was pancreatitis, progressing to acute pancreatitis,\u201d he explained. \u201cPossible causes include alcohol, smoking, lack of rest, and stress\u2014but these aren\u2019t the only factors.\u201d<\/p>\n Importantly, he emphasized that doctors never directly attributed his illness to alcohol. \u201cThey didn\u2019t say it was due to drinking or smoking.
