Authorities have launched investigations into the destruction of public property during protests that occurred in Kikuyu town, Kiambu County, on June 25, 2025.<\/p>\n

The demonstrations, held to mark the first anniversary of the 2024 Gen Z-led anti-Finance Bill protests, escalated into violence, resulting in the torching of several public facilities.<\/p>\n

Among the properties damaged were the Kikuyu Law Courts, Kikuyu Sub-County offices, and other government assets, including vehicles, tractors, and Tuk-Tuks.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, law enforcement agencies initiated operations to identify those responsible.<\/p>\n

To date, 25 individuals have been arrested in connection with the violence and have been arraigned before the Chief Magistrate\u2019s Court at the Ruiru Law Courts.<\/p>\n

Detectives have obtained a 14-day custodial order to allow for the completion of investigations.<\/p>\n

During the ongoing probe, officers recovered two steel windows, a steel door, and a water tank believed to have been stolen from the County Government\u2019s physical planning offices.<\/p>\n

The items were found abandoned in bushy areas within Mai-ii-hii and Kabete.<\/p>\n

The National Police Service has confirmed that investigations are still underway and additional arrests are expected.<\/p>\n

Authorities have urged members of the public to exercise restraint during demonstrations and warned that acts of destruction will be met with legal consequences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
