Speaking during an interview on Monday, July 15, 2025<\/strong>, Wamuchomba described the presidential visit as an extravagant and unnecessary show of force, especially given the short distance from Nairobi\u2019s CBD to Githunguri.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a 12-minute drive when there\u2019s no traffic,\u201d she said. \u201cYet the president showed up with nine helicopters<\/strong>\u2014and you\u2019re telling us about austerity? That\u2019s what you call listening?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cHe Came to Lecture, Not to Listen\u201d<\/h3>\n

According to Wamuchomba, the president’s true intention was not to engage with the public, but to publicly chastise her<\/strong> over her rejection of the government\u2019s controversial affordable housing plan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe president stood on the podium, with his hands in his pockets, and called me a hypocrite. He said, \u2018You can\u2019t oppose affordable housing while living in a mortgage-financed house,\u2019\u201d she recounted.
\u201cThat wasn\u2019t a dialogue. That was a lecture.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She accused the president of using the platform to undermine dissenting voices<\/strong>, particularly hers, adding,<\/p>\n
