Truly. Sometimes I hear people saying,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;Oh, you are getting older, you will not get married.&#8217; But I do not want to get married. I am just fine as I am,&#8221; she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>The Appeal of Independence<\/h3>\n<p>Wilbroda explained that the thought of sharing a life with a partner, including a bed and personal space, does not appeal to her. She expressed a strong preference for her independence and personal comfort.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Me, I cannot sleep with someone in one bed,&#8221; she stated. &#8220;I just imagine now, every day, for the rest of my life, I am just there sleeping next to someone, and he keeps snoring. No.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She noted that if she were to be in a relationship, she would prefer a partnership without cohabitation, similar to how some couples in other countries live. &#8220;I would want us to just be something like partners&#8230; And they live in separate homes, each with their own,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p>Wilbroda&#8217;s comments shed light on the immense pressure African women often face to conform to traditional marriage norms.
