Former President and Jubilee Party leader Uhuru Kenyatta has signaled the party’s firm intention to contest the 2027 General Election, but he notably sidestepped speculation that former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang\u2019i would be unveiled as the presidential flag bearer.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi on Friday, September 26, 2025, Uhuru made it clear that the political outfit is preparing to mount a serious campaign.<\/p>\n

“We shall be preparing for the next general election and doing so in earnest, and it remains our firm intention to field the best possible candidates for all elective positions,” Uhuru told delegates.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jubilee\u2019s Political Game Plan<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

While the question of the presidential candidate remains unanswered, Uhuru outlined Jubilee’s strategy, suggesting that they are open to collaboration. He stated the party would contest elections “either on our own or we shall do this in consent with like-minded political movements.”<\/p>\n

The former President stressed that a revitalized Jubilee must serve two critical purposes in Kenya\u2019s political landscape:<\/p>\n

  1. Platform for Visionary Leaders:<\/b> To provide a suitable platform for aspiring, visionary leaders to offer themselves in service of the nation.<\/li>\n
  2. Vibrant Options for Citizens:<\/b> To present Kenyan citizens with a vibrant set of options from which to elect leaders, in line with the country’s democratic ideals.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Uhuru also noted that the final decision on whether the party will remain within the Azimio coalition will ultimately rest with Jubilee’s delegates.
