Comedian Eric Omondi<\/strong> was overcome with emotion during a heartfelt visit to Mama Ida Odinga<\/strong>, the widow of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga<\/strong>, at her Nairobi residence on Thursday, October 23, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a touching video shared on Instagram, Eric is seen warmly embracing Mama Ida at the entrance of her stately home before the two settled into a deep and emotional conversation. The atmosphere was heavy with grief and reflection, as Eric offered words of comfort to the matriarch of the Odinga family during what remains a profoundly painful period of mourning.<\/p>\n

Dressed in a simple black tracksuit and T-shirt \u2014 a gesture of humility and respect \u2014 Eric exuded quiet reverence. Mama Ida, meanwhile, appeared graceful in a flowing white gown, symbolizing peace and strength amid sorrow.<\/p>\n

After their exchange, the comedian travelled to Kang\u2019o ka Jaramogi<\/strong> in Bondo, Siaya County<\/strong>, where he paid his respects at Raila\u2019s grave. Standing solemnly before the tomb, Eric bowed his head in silence, as if in prayer for the departed leader\u2019s soul.<\/p>\n

The video, soundtracked with a soulful hymn about peace and divine rest, deeply moved his followers, many of whom praised Eric for his compassion and respect toward the Odinga family.<\/p>\n

Raila Odinga was laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, 2025<\/strong>, at his ancestral home in a private ceremony attended by family, close allies, and a small group of national leaders.<\/p>\n

According to Luo cultural traditions, Raila was interred with two symbolic items \u2014 his trademark hat, known as Ogudu<\/strong>, and a ceremonial whisk called Orengo<\/strong>. Both items represent leadership, wisdom, and dignity, signifying the continued influence of the departed in the spiritual realm.<\/p>\n

During the solemn rites, the Kenya Defence Forces<\/strong> presented the national flag to Mama Ida in honour of Raila\u2019s decades of service and sacrifice for Kenya.<\/p>\n

The former Prime Minister passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025<\/strong>, at the age of 80, while receiving treatment at the Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre<\/strong> in Kerala, India<\/strong>.
