Content creator and comedian Oga Obinna<\/strong> delivered an emotional tribute during the final farewell for former journalist Kimani Mbugua<\/strong> in Murang\u2019a County, offering a deeply personal reflection on grief, mental health, and the pressures of public life.<\/p>\n

Speaking before mourners, Obinna described Kimani as \u201cmy small brother,\u201d<\/em> expressing the depth of his heartbreak and the shock surrounding the young journalist\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cOctober Has Been a Difficult Month\u201d<\/h3>\n

Obinna revealed that the past few weeks had taken a heavy toll on him personally and emotionally, saying October had been one of the hardest periods of his life.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cOctober has not been a very good month for me \u2014 personally, mentally, and emotionally,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He spoke with visible emotion, explaining that Kimani\u2019s death had shattered the plans and hopes they had built together for his recovery and future.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cThe plan was very different. I didn\u2019t want to see this. This was not what we talked about. Personally, I am heartbroken \u2014 my heart is bleeding,\u201d Obinna said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A Brotherly Bond<\/h3>\n

The comedian recounted how he met Kimani after learning about his struggles and decided to reach out to help. He met with Kimani, his father, and other family members, forming a close bond in the months that followed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI reached out to him, found him, and we talked \u2014 with him, his mum, and his dad. We had big plans,\u201d Obinna recalled.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Their relationship, he said, grew beyond professional acquaintance into genuine brotherhood \u2014 one rooted in shared struggles and mutual respect.<\/p>\n

\n

A Message to the Media Industry<\/h3>\n

Turning his grief into a moment of reflection, Obinna used his speech to address the silent suffering within Kenya\u2019s media and creative industry.<\/p>\n

He lamented that many people working in media and entertainment hide their pain behind smiles and content, fearing judgment or appearing weak.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cMost of us in the media space don\u2019t talk about our problems, yet we go through a lot. The industry expects perfection all the time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Obinna also cautioned young people about the illusion of social media, describing it as \u201ca scam.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cWhat you see online isn\u2019t real. People only show you what they want you to see. Behind the filters and success stories are real struggles.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He urged content creators and young professionals to prioritize collaboration over competition, emphasizing that unity and empathy could save lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are competing with each other instead of supporting one another. We need to change that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A Sobering Reminder<\/h3>\n

As he concluded his tribute, Obinna reminded the mourners of the fragility of life and the importance of reaching out to one another.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we are mourning Kimani. Tomorrow, it could be anyone. Please, talk to each other before it\u2019s too late,\u201d he urged.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
