Dennis Itumbi<\/span><\/span> has revealed that comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi<\/span><\/span> is earning an estimated KSh57 million from his social media platforms, making him the highest-paid content creator in Kenya.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a live interview on April 8, 2026, Itumbi said Omondi\u2019s biggest earnings come from Instagram and Facebook, underscoring the growing financial potential of digital content creation.<\/p>\n

Monetisation Driving Earnings<\/h3>\n

According to Itumbi, the current administration has played a key role in enabling creators to monetise their content. He noted that when the government came into office, President William Ruto<\/span><\/span> personally engaged with Meta<\/span><\/span> to introduce monetisation for its platforms.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen this administration took over\u2026 he is earning KSh57 million from his social media, and he is the highest-paid, with most of his income coming from Instagram and Facebook,\u201d Itumbi stated.<\/p>\n

Longstanding Challenges for Musicians<\/h3>\n

Beyond digital creators, Itumbi pointed out that Kenyan musicians have historically struggled to earn royalties from their work, highlighting a long-standing issue within the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

Creative Economy Bill 2026<\/h3>\n

He added that efforts are underway to address such challenges through the proposed Creative Economy Bill 2026, which is currently before Parliament. The bill seeks to establish a dedicated fund for creatives\u2014something he described as a first for the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis administration has a Creative Economy Bill 2026 in Parliament that sets up a fund for creatives that has never existed for a long time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Increased Government Support<\/h3>\n

Itumbi further revealed that the government has allocated 30 percent of its advertising budget to content creators over the past year and a half, creating more opportunities for consistent income in the sector.<\/p>\n

Strengthening the Creative Industry<\/h3>\n

To support long-term growth, the administration has also set up an independent Creative Economy Department under the presidency, alongside a Creative Economy Coordination Office.<\/p>\n
