Controversial preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari of Salvation Healing Ministry recently opened up about a difficult chapter from his younger years, sharing a personal story he says taught him important lessons about relationships, financial independence, and trust.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a church sermon, Kanyari recalled a period shortly after completing his secondary education when he was struggling financially and depended on an older woman for support.<\/p>\n
According to the preacher, poverty forced him into a situation where the woman provided him with accommodation and other basic needs as he tried to build a livelihood selling shoes sourced from Uganda.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter finishing Form Four, I was housed by a sugar mummy because of poverty,\u201d Kanyari told his congregation.<\/p>\n
Kanyari narrated that one day he became suspicious after noticing the woman preparing to leave the house dressed for an outing. When he asked where she was going, she reportedly dismissed his questions and told him to focus on his own affairs.<\/p>\n
Convinced she was meeting another man, the preacher said he secretly followed her on a motorcycle.<\/p>\n
Using the experience as a lesson for his audience, Kanyari warned against becoming overly possessive in relationships.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you follow your woman everywhere, you will be disappointed. Just let her be,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The preacher claimed he eventually tracked the woman to a location in Kayole, where he found her dining with several men. Among those present, he alleged, was the late David Mwenje.<\/p>\n
Overcome by anger, Kanyari said he confronted the group and kicked their table, disrupting their meal.<\/p>\n
The situation quickly escalated, and he claimed the men turned on him and physically assaulted him.<\/p>\n
According to Kanyari, the beating was so severe that he lost consciousness and later woke up in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kenyatta National Hospital.<\/p>\n
He said he spent approximately one month receiving treatment and recovering from his injuries.<\/p>\n
Despite the incident, the woman reportedly continued visiting him during his hospital stay.<\/p>\n
Kanyari said the relationship dynamic changed after he recovered and returned to the woman’s home.<\/p>\n
He recalled that she confronted him over his actions, questioning his contribution to the household and reminding him that she had been paying the rent, buying food, and covering other expenses.<\/p>\n
According to Kanyari, the woman argued that since she was responsible for supporting the household, he had no authority to dictate where she went or who she associated with.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe asked me whether I had ever bought food, paid rent, or even knew which school her child attended,\u201d he recounted.<\/p>\n
Drawing from the experience, Kanyari encouraged men to strive for financial independence and avoid becoming entirely dependent on their partners.<\/p>\n
He argued that earning one’s own income helps build confidence, responsibility, and mutual respect within relationships.<\/p>\n
The preacher concluded by advising men not to become consumed by suspicion or spend their time monitoring their partners’ movements, saying trust and self-reliance are important foundations in any relationship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
