Owen Mwatia, popularly known as Daddy Owen, has opened up about why he now keeps his romantic life out of the public eye following his divorce.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the Lesson at 30<\/em> podcast hosted by Dr Ofweneke, the singer reflected on his experiences with marriage, describing it as a beautiful institution that, while not mandatory, can be a fulfilling part of life.<\/p>\n \u201cI have experienced both sides; I have lived in marriage and outside marriage. Marriage is good. It is not a must, but it is something good to have because when you meet the right person, you can build something beautiful together,\u201d Daddy Owen said.<\/p>\n \u201cMarriage in itself is a very beautiful setup.\u201d<\/p>\n The award-winning musician explained that one of the biggest lessons he learned from his previous marriage is that he is not comfortable managing his personal relationships in the public spotlight.<\/p>\n According to Daddy Owen, public attention and scrutiny can make relationships more difficult to navigate.<\/p>\n \u201cWhether I choose to marry again or not, one thing I discovered is that I am very poor at talking about my relationship in public or exposing it to the public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He added that the experiences from his past relationship significantly influenced his current approach to dating and love.<\/p>\n \u201cI decided that whether I get married again or not, no one will ever know. That is why I chose to keep everything private because I am not good at handling that kind of attention. I simply do not know how to deal with it,\u201d Daddy Owen explained.<\/p>\n In a playful remark, the singer joked that even if he were to marry again, the public would probably be the last to find out.<\/p>\n \u201cI do not know how to handle relationships or marriage in public. The couple, who tied the knot in an elaborate wedding ceremony in 2016, ended their marriage in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n Their divorce marked the end of a five-year union, and the two share two children together.
