A Nairobi court has charged Ezekiel Kyama Nzoki with malicious damage to property over the alleged destruction of public property at Parliament Buildings during the anti-government protests of June 25, 2024.<\/p>\n
Nzoki appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Caroline Mugoon at the Milimani Law Courts on Monday, June 29, 2026, where the prosecution accused him of committing the offence together with other individuals who have not been presented before the court.<\/p>\n
He denied the charges.<\/p>\n
The accused is alleged to have acted jointly with others to unlawfully and wilfully damage property belonging to the Parliamentary Service Commission during the protests.<\/p>\n
Following his plea, the court released Nzoki on a personal bond of KSh100,000 pending the hearing and determination of the case.<\/p>\n
According to the charge sheet, the prosecution claims that Nzoki and others damaged various properties at Parliament Buildings during the unrest that saw protesters breach parts of the parliamentary premises.<\/p>\n

The prosecution estimates the total value of the alleged damage at KSh41,248,570.<\/p>\n
Court documents indicate that the affected property belonging to the Parliamentary Service Commission was valued at more than KSh41.2 million.<\/p>\n
The charges are linked to the nationwide protests held on June 25, 2024, when thousands of Kenyans took to the streets in opposition to the proposed Finance Bill.<\/p>\n
The demonstrations, which were largely driven by young protesters, escalated in Nairobi and other parts of the country, with Parliament becoming a focal point of the unrest.<\/p>\n
