It aims to position the country as a dominant hub in the fuel industry and drastically reduce the region\u2019s reliance on imported refined petroleum.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">President Ruto revealed that he has already held conclusive talks with the Nigerian billionaire, noting that while the facility belongs to Kenya, it will serve as a vital energy lifeline for seven neighboring nations:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"8\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,0,0\">Ethiopia<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,1,0\">South Sudan<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,2,0\">Uganda<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,3,0\">Tanzania<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,4,0\">Rwanda<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,5,0\">Burundi<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,6,0\">Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote data-path-to-node=\"9\">\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9,0\">&#8220;As you all know, Kenya is set to construct an East African refinery here in Lamu, and we will need 60,000 youths to do that job,&#8221; President Ruto stated. &#8220;I have talked to businessman Aliko Dangote, and we have agreed with him that the refinery, which belongs to Kenya alone, will also serve [our neighbors].&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"11\">Progress Already Underway<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12\">The megaproject is expected to replicate Dangote\u2019s massive, world-record single-train refinery located outside Lagos, Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\">According to Edwin Devakumar, the Vice President for Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries, the project is moving swiftly.
