Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko received a call from above that made him relinquish a special privilege only accorded to high ranking government officials.<\/p>\n

The government ordered Sonko to stop flying the national flag on his official vehicle. Sonko was the only governor in the 47 counties who illegally flew the national flag on his official vehicle.<\/p>\n

Privilege not earned<\/h5>\n

The president and his deputy, the chief justice, cabinet secretaries, speakers of the national assembly and senate as well as Kenyan diplomats while in foreign missions are the only persons allowed to fly the national flags on their vehicles.<\/p>\n

Sonko received a call from Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho who ordered him to stop flying the national flag on his vehicles. Governors are however allowed to fly their county flags.<\/p>\n

“Mambo ya flag hizo nimekubali kutoa as adviced by Karanja Kibicho na Ndegwa,” wrote Sonko on Facebook.<\/p>\n
