The\u00a0Kenya Film Classification Board has revealed a survey that shows a much needed in-depth look of how Kenyans consume media.<\/p>\n
The survey, which was aimed at establishing what the Kenyan people think about the KFCB\u2019s mandate and content classification functions, was officially launched at\u00a0the Laico Regency Hotel and listed\u00a0Machachari show (Citizen TV) and Churchill Show (NTV) as the most preferred programs on Kenyan TVs.<\/p>\n
The survey also indicated\u00a0local programs are the most watched by Kenyan people at 64 per cent, followed by news at 20 per cent, third are soap operas at 12 per cent, fourth on the list are games and sports at 3 percent and last are cartoons at 1 percent.<\/p>\n
“We regulate content at the creation, broadcast, possession, distribution and exhibition stages. KFCB is the custodian of Kenya\u2019s moral compass at a time when we are continually bombarded by vicious content that reaches vulnerable children,\u201d said Mr Mutua.<\/em><\/p>\n Adding:<\/p>\n “This survey will inform the policy direction of the Board in content regulation and will help us to map out strategies for effective and efficient stakeholders engagement. We will work with creators, distributors and consumers of content to ensure that content promotes our culture and moral values.
