Central Bank of Kenya’s (CBK) 2017 Annual Bank Supervision Report shows how stiff competition has significantly readjusted banks’ positions in terms of market share.<\/p>\n

The Co-operative Bank’s\u00a0market share grew marginally from 9.9% in 2016 to 9.93% in 2017. This increase has seen Co-op bank emerge as Kenya’s second biggest lender.<\/p>\n

Co-op bank went a rank higher and dislodged Equity bank whose market share\u00a0dipped significantly from 10% in 2016 to 9.85% in 2017.<\/p>\n

The market share Index is calculated by taking into account bank results across five key performance indicators namely total net assets, total deposits, total shareholders\u2019 funds, total deposit accounts and total loan accounts.<\/p>\n

Below is the market share ranking by CBK:
\n1. KCB has 14.4%<\/p>\n

2. Cooperative bank has 9.93%,<\/p>\n

3. Equity Group 9.85%,<\/p>\n

4. Stanchart 7.11%,<\/p>\n

5. DTB 6.72%,<\/p>\n

6. Barclays 6.57%,<\/p>\n

7. CBA 6.05% and<\/p>\n

8. Stanbic has 5.62%.<\/p>\n
