A six-acre piece of land in the heart of Karen suburb\u00a0 has been the bone of contention that has pitted several parties against each other. Gospel singer Alex Apoko alias Ringtone is among those embroiled in the dispute.<\/p>\n

The dispute started in 2012 when the land’s owner Roger Robson died. Robson died aged 71 without any children or a wife. He left most of his land to wildlife charities.<\/p>\n

Lawyer Guy Elms wrote Robson’s will before he died. But two years after his death, city businesswoman Agnes Kagure Kariuki grabbed the land claiming that she bought it for Ksh 100 million.<\/p>\n

Other parties including Ringtone also laid claim over the land. Daily Mail reports that Ringtone emptied Robson’s belongings<\/a> from his house in June 2014 claiming that his uncle owned the property.<\/p>\n

Ownership battle in court<\/h5>\n

Lawyer Guy Elms moved to court over the land’s ownership. In 2015. Justice Mary Gitumbi issued orders barring Agnes Kagure from erecting a perimeter wall around the property.<\/p>\n

It has now emerged that the city businesswoman, who is said to have powerful political connections, has ignored court orders and fenced the property anyway.<\/p>\n

The tycoon has also hired goons to harass Guy Elms, the lawyer cannot access the property at the moment despite being made legal representative of the estate before the owner’s death.<\/p>\n

“She (Agnes Kagure) forged the deceased\u2019s signatures on the land titles number 2327\/10 and 2327\/27 claiming to have purchased it at Ksh 100 million. The documents she relied on to evict occupants are forgeries and not recognised in law,” said Guy Elms.<\/p>\n

The next court date is expected to be on Wednesday March 20th. The hearings however only\u00a0 last for 15 minutes to 20 minutes before being put off until another date.<\/p>\n
