Kenya’s “Mother of Gospel Music” is back with a New Video

After disappearing from the music scene for some time, Kenya’s unofficial mother of Gospel music, Jemmimah Thiong’o is back with a brand new video. Known for her signature laid-back and deep songs, this one is not different.

Known as “Penya”, the song is inspirational especially to those who are feeling their faith is shaken. With her outstanding voice, Jemmimah urges God to come into her heart and make her pure so that she may praise Him all the days of her lives.

Despite being sung in Swahili, the song is multicultural as Jemmimah incorporates other Gospel singers who deliver the same lyrics in Luhya, Kamba, Kikuyu and Luo. This great song was produced by Bosire and renowned director J. Blessing did his magic.
