Lesego ‘ThickLeeyonce’ Legobane speak on Social Media Cruelty.

What was supposed to be a celebratory moment for ThickLeeyonce ,turned out to be a nightmare as she walked the  runway for the #SAFW.ThickLeeyonce was slammed on twitter with many slamming her for her weight and walking.

ThickLeeyonce has gone ahead to express her emotions on the whole ordeal stating that she felt sickened by the amount of backlash she received.

“I was so anxious about walking in a fashion show with models who have years of experience and who are a lot smaller than me,” she said.

“I was skeptical, but my mom said ‘do it for the next big girl who wants to be a model but thinks it’s impossible’, and so I did it…

“But, oh the hatred? The cruelty? The malicious comments I have to deal with? Everyday? Most days it’s ‘whatever’… but yesterday I read and read and read and read until I was numb.

“It’s been four years of online abuse and cyber bullying, but yesterday I got really sad.

“I’m tired of hearing ‘ignore them’ because I am expected to be ‘ok’ with this. This is not ok. Don’t tell me not to mind this because I do.”

The CEO of the SAFW also came to her defence.“It’s very unfortunate and uncalled for. I don’t stand for it. Any hate speech is a reflection of our society. We (Fashion Week) are about inclusion and have in the past used mature models, handicapped, all heights and sizes, it’s about what the designer wants.
