LYRA AOKO BACK WITH GOODIES FROM CAPE TOWN?
Kenyan songstress Lyra Aoko is back from Cape Town, South Africa where she was representing East and Central Africa at the Samsung Forum.
She had the opportunity to present alongside other established industry players from the host country including HHP, Lira and Don Jazzy. Lyra got the opportunity to meet some other talented individuals from across Africa including Elana Afrika and Lerato.
The Samsung Forum went extremely well for the musician as she also received a shocker when the COO of the electronics giant made a last minute change to feature her presentation of the product as the only one. She did a great job with her performance.
Other performances included Sioni and of course Lira headlining the event. Lyra could connect with the singer, who was here in Kenya this past month for Blankets and Wine, because she happened to sing one of her songs ‘believer’, last year at a Kianda School event she also performed at.
With the star studded cast that surrounded her, we wouldn’t be too surprised if she pulled up an amazing collaboration with some of the South African heavyweights. Let;s wait and see, but be sure you will hear it on Ghafla! first.
At the Samsung Africa Forum in Cape Town, South Africa, the company, together with SES announced that they were collaborating to drive digital broadcasting via satellite in sub-Saharan Africa. Samsung will introduce an LED television with an integrated free-to-air satellite receiver, the Samsung LED TV Free Satellite that will be distributed in Nigeria, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon in August 2012. Distribution in additional countries will follow.
The integrated satellite receiver will allow consumers to receive free-to-air television channels without the need for an additional set top box as the LED TV will be directly connected with the satellite dish.
Lyra was featured on Nick Mutuma’s first single ‘254 Anthem’ which has proved to be a massive success on the airwaves.
